Aaron rocked his high school senior session! Literally. We had Imagine Dragons playing and Aaron sung and danced along! We met up at Quail Ridge Park in St. Charles County. Aaron is an avid runner and goes to this park quite often. During our session he jumped off a bridge, ran through the woods, performed his track and field exercises, and mimicked one of his childhood photos of him playing air guitar shirtless. (I left that one off the blog, for his mother’s sake! ) We also got some nice suit and tie photos for the grandparents. I always recommend bringing numerous outfits to your photo shoot. I also enjoy meeting with clients prior to their photo session to get a feel for the type of images that they are looking for! Before Aaron’s shoot we met up at the local St. Louis Bread Co to talk about my photography services!

Aaron was a blast to work with! Some of my photo shoot tips are: Get plenty of rest the night before, have a good meal prior, bring a bottled water with you and select your outfits a week ahead of time. I recently had the pleasure of touring a special events rental location called the Bluffs on Broadway! Definitely one-of-a-kind! The property sits sevens stories above the Mississippi River on a limestone bluff! It originally featured the largest riverboat gothic mansion on mansion row, built in 1849. A fire in 1979 destroyed the then vacant home beyond repair. Fast-forward to the year 2000 when Mark Widmann purchased the land and designed this special events location, which also serves as his home.

The home has a state of the art audiovisual system which allows for music to be heard throughout the home, on the bluffs edge and as guests approach the house. The lower level has a 12′ bar and plenty of dance floor space! For those that enjoy a beautiful view the property has more than 4,000 square feet of decks and patios. For those that enjoy contemporary art work the property has lots to view and appreciate.

And most importantly when you book an event at the Bluffs on Broadway you will not be competing with noise, traffic or wandering guests from other events across the hall or from the next floor. Your special event will receive the absolute privacy and personal attention it deserves.

Contact Joe Wand, the director of sales, for more information on renting the Bluffs on Broadway for your special event. or call 314-231-4808. Please contact Natasha McGuire for more information on special event photography. or call 314-680-8274.

Did you know there are historic small towns with gorgeous views 1 hour north of St. Louis? My hubby and I grabbed the camera one day recently and head out on the open road. We first visited Clarksville, MO and to our surprise we found a wedding venue called Overlook Farm! How cool! We kept on driving though because my husband mentioned antique stores! I’d love to go back one day soon and tour Overlook Farm, I hear it’s super nice! We drove up to the Lock & Dam No. 24 parked the car along the river and grabbed a cup of coffee at a local restaurant. We then stumbled upon The Bent Tree Gallery which also featured Stacy Leigh Leather Handbags. The town has great architecture and views for eagle watching. There is even a lift that at one time took you up super high to watch the eagles! Our next stop would be Louisiana, MO. We roamed around Georgia Street noticing the murals and Victorian architecture. People are friendly there. We met a local artist named Jon Moran who invited us to view his studio and art work! He runs a graphic design and fine art business called The Studio at Seventh. He told us about Riverview Cemetery, which had gorgeous views of the Mississippi River and the Champ Clark Bridge. We then drove to the Saint Louis University’s Lay Center for Education and the Arts, which is a Sculpture Park on 20 acres. We had a great time on our day trip to two historic small towns in Pike County Missouri! We heard about two additional wedding venues on our trip, both involved barns! I love a good barn wedding!

Sheila payne - You should send these pics to the chamber of commerce for that town!! Wonderful!!

Check out Julie’s high school senior photos at Forest Park in St. Louis, MO. I have a lot of fun with my high school seniors and Julie was no exception. She brought five outfits with coordinating shoes and jewelry, and she looked gorgeous in all of them! We started near the Muny at the Lichtenstein Plaza with her short flowery blue and white dress. Then we moved to the valley near the McKinley Bridge for her next outfit, which was bright blue skinny jeans with a flowy white top with sheer long sleeves and sandals. Then we moved to the ticket booth of the Muny for her next outfit which was white skinny ankle length leggings, a strapless jean top and adorable wedges. Then we moved to the waterfall near the golf course and Julie wore her long flowered maxi dress. We ended her session with her volleyball uniform and volleyball. Julie plays for Ursuline Academy near Kirkwood, MO. I’ve seen her in action, she’s very good! Congrats on your upcoming graduation, Julie!

Gorgeous high school senior photos Julie!
