I recently had the pleasure of touring The Lalumondiere Mill and Rivergardens, a one-of-a-kind St. Louis outdoor wedding venue!  The owners of the venue, Jim and Jeannie, made me feel right at home. A photographers dream, everywhere I turned made the perfect photo opportunity! The property has gorgeous river views, the mill pond and waterfalls! It has a wedding chapel patio with a wooden and wrought iron alter, lots of unique stone walls with wooden doors and archways, a bridge over Big River, a vintage 1950’s Chevrolet truck, an outdoor bar area, fish ponds and a restored log cabin with outdoor fireplace! This place has a great history! It was very nice talking with Jim about his property and about weddings and the importance of enjoying the day and the party! As I left he reminded me “don’t ever pass up a party!” Needless to say Jim and Jeannie know how to throw a party! They host a mix of events; parties, weddings and/or receptions, corporate meetings and retreats! Live music is welcome!

Did you know The Nightclub, formally Home Nightclub, at Ameristar Casino in St. Charles is a fabulous Wedding Venue? And to top it off the suites there are awesome! How do I know? I had the privilege of photographing Clint and Jamie’s wedding day photos there along with Todd Studios! The guys had one suite and the girls had another. I got to photograph Clint opening gifts from his wife to be. He was so sweet and slowly read every word of the card and was shocked at how well he racked up! I loved all the details of their day. Jamie’s dress was amazing. Check out that little peep through section at the sweetheart neckline! Ameristar has some great photo opportunities. Such a cool venue, with beautiful chandeliers and lighting that changed colors throughout the night! Guests told me they had never been to anything like it! In between the ceremony and reception we stopped over at Historic Main Street and New Town in St. Charles. Such a gorgeous navy blue and pink themed wedding! Enjoy the photos below!

Local honey is good for your health. The local honey in St. Louis, MO just so happens to be harvested in my cousins backyard! Ben McGuire is a beekeeper and he has been for 15 years! Pure Honey Overland can be found at the Overland Farmers Market a few times a year. My family and I love his honey and are amazed at his bravery! Last year Ben filled 80 jars of honey for my wedding favors! I told him I wanted to learn more about the bees and photograph them! I finally got the opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed it! Check out what I got to see and learn below!

The smoke distracts the bees, keeping them busy so we can get near!

The bottom shelf has a special grid to keep the queen bee low in hive, she is too big to fit through it!

The bee in the image below on the right is making his entrance into the world!

See his progression below!

The white cells near the center of the honeycomb are hatched eggs.

The image below is a honeycomb that has been completely cleaned out. The next two images show a full honeycomb that is ready for extraction!

Ben suggests not only adding honey to your tea, but also to vanilla ice cream! I can’t wait to try it! Thanks for letting me visit and for the honey!

Vintage style weddings are very popular and so fun! I recently had the privilege of attending Vintage Pastel, a styled wedding shoot at Kuhs Estate & Farm in Spanish Lake, Mo. The property has horses, chickens, ducks, a barn, a green house, huge trees and beautiful views! It is the perfect location for an outdoor wedding! The details of this shoot were gorgeous. Grace, the bride wore a mint green dress from Retro 101/Cherry Bomb Vintage. The coral dress that the bridesmaid, Nickie wore was from My Vintage Addiction. The men’s neckwear was from Just Liv. The stationary was from La Rue Louise Designs. The wedding cake and desserts were from The Cakery Bakery. We  got to sample the cupcakes at the end of the day! Yum! The beautiful and very unique flowers were from Peacock Blooms. Grace’s headpiece was from Couture Designs by Ice Green Eyes and her intricate belt came from Km2 Shoes and Accessories. Furniture and decor rentals came from Vintage for the Day. If you are looking for some vintage wedding inspiration you’ve come to the right place!

Alyssa’s high school senior photos were taken in downtown St. Louis. We had a great time photographing around Historic Laclede’s Landing and the Arch. Alyssa came with 5 outfits and we moved around to different areas within walking distance of each other. This added variety to her session and helped give her photo album diversity. Alyssa choose her favorite photos and I designed a custom photo album for her.

Alyssa sent me the following email: “I LOVE it! Thanks so much again for helping me create memories of my senior year! I had so much fun with all of this! It was so great working with you! Thank you again! Alyssa”

I was so happy to help her create memories she will enjoy for years to come. One day in the future her kids will love seeing their mom’s high school senior photo album!:)

I used a local lab for her photo album and previewed the album pages before they were assembled. They are printed on luster photo paper.

The album came together beautifully! Alyssa is a gorgeous high school senior!

Best of luck in the future Alyssa! Call me for your wedding photography in the future!:)
