Historic Small Towns with Gorgeous Views near St. Louis, MO

Did you know there are historic small towns with gorgeous views 1 hour north of St. Louis? My hubby and I grabbed the camera one day recently and head out on the open road. We first visited Clarksville, MO and to our surprise we found a wedding venue called Overlook Farm! How cool! We kept on driving though because my husband mentioned antique stores! I’d love to go back one day soon and tour Overlook Farm, I hear it’s super nice! We drove up to the Lock & Dam No. 24 parked the car along the river and grabbed a cup of coffee at a local restaurant. We then stumbled upon The Bent Tree Gallery which also featured Stacy Leigh Leather Handbags. The town has great architecture and views for eagle watching. There is even a lift that at one time took you up super high to watch the eagles! Our next stop would be Louisiana, MO. We roamed around Georgia Street noticing the murals and Victorian architecture. People are friendly there. We met a local artist named Jon Moran who invited us to view his studio and art work! He runs a graphic design and fine art business called The Studio at Seventh. He told us about Riverview Cemetery, which had gorgeous views of the Mississippi River and the Champ Clark Bridge. We then drove to the Saint Louis University’s Lay Center for Education and the Arts, which is a Sculpture Park on 20 acres. We had a great time on our day trip to two historic small towns in Pike County Missouri! We heard about two additional wedding venues on our trip, both involved barns! I love a good barn wedding!
